What nobody teaches you and you need to know

I was recently talking about the difference between traditional skills as we know them and metaskills as the ones that you need to know to be future ready and thrive in the technological world. Thriving the change (as it happens pretty fast with disruptive tech) is the skill that goes beyond just being a subject matter. Although it may sound slightly strange while you read, it won’t for you in the coming year(s).

If you have not noticed yet, just to know everything about your job doesn’t guarantee you will remain on the top of the game if you do not pursue continuous learning and acquisition of new skills and knowledge contexts. Metaskills can help you with this because the core goal of any meta skill is to facilitate your core skill connected to your professional life as it engages with your functional skill in a more effective way and enhances it.

Keep in mind that another difference between a traditional skill and metaskill is durability. Metaskills are permanent where the traditionally skillset can become out of date of simply useless with tech disruption.

Let’s go for an example..

Metaskills support transition and easy change adoption. Adaptability to reality and new trends is a metaskill that increases your chances to thrive in professional world because it develops resilience, creativity and self awareness. Keep in mind that everything we see, use and know today was a dream before.
